Job Summary

Design, develop, integrate, test, and improve manufacturing systems and processes. This role focuses on optimizing production efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring quality through effective material flow, process design, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to enhance product designs and manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve products, processes, and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Troubleshoot product and process issues related to design, materials, or production methods
  • Provide technical support and expertise to manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to resolve system malfunctions and improve workflows
  • Conduct root cause analysis using statistical tools and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform non-conforming material analysis and generate NCMR reports; partner with Quality to reduce defects
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including defining sequence of operations
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
  • Program and support CNC equipment as required
  • Create and maintain documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and job procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate production equipment accuracy and implement corrective action plans
  • Recommend and implement design improvements to eliminate defects or inefficiencies
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and quality
  • Supervise and guide technicians and production staff when required
  • Support development and selection of materials for product applications

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication, tooling, and assembly methods
  • Experience with CNC programming and machining processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and statistical methods
  • Experience with non-conformance reporting (NCMR) and corrective actions
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma principles
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory compliance standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated industries (medical device, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with process optimization and production support
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt/Black Belt)
  • Experience supervising or mentoring technical teams

Compensation & Location

Salary: $70,000 – $95,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Skaneateles, NY
