Job Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned Life Sciences Business Analyst with expertise in Lab Informatics to join our team in Foster City, CA. This is an onsite contract role where you will partner closely with laboratory scientists and research stakeholders to understand workflows, identify pain points, and translate needs into actionable business requirements. You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business users and IT delivery teams, ensuring proposed solutions align with scientific objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with laboratory scientists and research stakeholders to understand current lab workflows, pain points, and desired future state capabilities.
- Lead structured requirements elicitation activities, including interviews, workshops, and process walkthroughs.
- Translate findings into clear, actionable business requirements, process flows, use cases, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with the project manager to liaison between business users and IT delivery teams (data engineering, platform, and solution architecture).
- Act as a key liaison between business users and IT delivery teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
- Validate proposed solutions with end users to ensure they meet scientific workflows and research objectives.
- Participate in project governance forums and working sessions as required.
- Support change management and user adoption by helping define training needs and ensuring requirements reflect real-world lab usage.
- Contribute to the development of key project artifacts such as Business Requirements Documents (BRDs).
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on complex technology or data-driven projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with laboratory scientists, research teams, or lab informatics systems.
- Experience in biopharma, life sciences, or scientific R&D environments is essential.
- Strong ability to translate scientific or operational needs into structured requirements without prescribing specific technical solutions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; comfortable working across business, scientific, and IT audiences.
- Proven experience producing formal requirements documentation.
- Knowledge of Gene Data Capture systems and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an onsite, collaborative environment.
