Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst to partner closely with laboratory scientists and research stakeholders to understand current lab workflows, pain points, and desired future state capabilities. This role is crucial for translating scientific and operational needs into actionable business requirements and collaborating with IT delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with laboratory scientists and research stakeholders to understand current lab workflows, pain points, and desired future state capabilities.
- Lead structured requirements elicitation activities (interviews, workshops, process walkthroughs) and translate findings into clear, actionable business requirements.
- Develop and maintain key artifacts such as: Business requirements documents (BRDs), Process flows and use cases, Functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with the project manager to liaison between business users and IT delivery teams (data engineering, platform, and solution architecture).
- Act as a liaison between business users and IT delivery teams (data engineering, platform, and solution architecture).
- Validate proposed solutions with end users to ensure alignment with scientific workflows and research objectives.
- Participate in project governance forums and working sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with the project manager to support change management and user adoption by helping define training needs and ensuring requirements reflect real-world lab usage.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on complex technology or data-driven projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with laboratory scientists, research teams, or lab informatics systems.
- Experience in biopharma, life sciences, or scientific R&D environments.
- Strong ability to translate scientific or operational needs into structured requirements without prescribing technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills; comfortable working across business, scientific, and IT audiences.
- Experience producing formal requirements documentation.
- Knowledge of Gene Data Capture.

Duration: 6 months
Compensation & Location
Salary: $60,000 – $120,000 per year (Estimated)
Location: Foster City, CA
