About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer with strong backend development experience to build and support large-scale enterprise applications. The candidate must be based in Sunrise, FL, and available to attend a mandatory in-person interview at the client location. This role involves working closely with product owners and development teams to design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance applications.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and modern cloud-based development practices. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity with a direct client of Novia Infotech.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain large-scale backend applications using Java and related technologies.
- Participate in system design and development of enterprise applications and services.
- Own the technical aspects of software development for assigned applications.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following software development best practices.
- Perform analysis, development, testing, and troubleshooting across all stages of the software lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain unit tests to improve code coverage and application quality.
- Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and improve application performance.
- Work with product owners to prioritize features and manage technical requirements for ongoing sprints.
- Troubleshoot issues in testing and production environments and ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery of software solutions.
- Support hybrid work expectations with presence in the Florida office three to four days per week.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience developing large-scale backend applications using Java. Experience working in agile development environments and participating in the full software development lifecycle. Experience working with cloud environments, either public or private cloud platforms.
- Technical Skills: Strong expertise in Core Java and backend programming. Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot. Experience building REST-based microservices architectures. Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven systems. Experience writing unit tests using JUnit and Mockito. Experience with integration testing and automated testing frameworks. Experience with development tools such as SonarQube, Log4j, Gradle, and Maven. Experience using version control systems such as Git. Experience working with Unix and scripting. Experience with relational and non-relational databases including SQL and NoSQL. Experience working with containerization and cloud technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace. Experience in performance tuning for high-performance applications requiring sub-second response times.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in development and production environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with cloud-native development and deployment environments.
- Experience working in hybrid development models with both onsite and remote teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise application architecture and scalable distributed systems.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $50 – $60 per year
