Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Java Lead with strong Retail and Point of Sale (POS) experience for a remote contract position, open to candidates in the USA and Canada. This role requires extensive hands-on experience in Java backend development, microservices, and system design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in debugging, root cause analysis, and experience with event-driven systems like Kafka. A strong understanding of system architecture and REST API design is essential. Experience supporting retail systems with POS exposure is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of Java backend microservices, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Design and implement robust system architectures.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs.
- Utilize Git for version control and understand CI/CD fundamentals.
- Debug complex code and perform root cause analysis for production issues.
- Work with event-driven systems, particularly Kafka.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support retail systems, leveraging POS experience.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 12+ years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
- Strong expertise in Spring, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
- Proven debugging and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven systems.
- Strong understanding of system design and architecture.
- Proficiency in REST API design, Git, and CI/CD fundamentals.
- Required strong Java Microservices lead with strong experience in Retails and POS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Retail systems with POS exposure.
- Familiarity with POS platforms such as XStore, ORPOS, JMC.
- Understanding of store vs. central system architecture.

Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
