Job Title: Mainframe DB2 System DBA

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe DB2 System DBA with 10-15 years of experience to join our team in Plano, TX for a 12-month contract. The role involves the installation, upgrade, maintenance, and support of DB2 subsystems on the z/OS environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, maintain, and customize DB2 and its associated IBM and 3rd party software.
  • Monitor the DB2 on z/OS environment.
  • Create, modify, and maintain DB2 databases on the z/OS environment.
  • Provide technical system support for DB2 subsystems, database tools, and utilities.
  • Support DB2 business, end-user, and application requirements.
  • Perform DB2 catalog/directory management.
  • Manage DB2 logs, BSDS, active/archive logs.
  • Tune DB2 buffer pools and EDM pools.
  • Monitor performance using OMEGAMON, Mainview, or similar tools.
  • Apply DB2 PTFs and APAR fixes.
  • Manage DDF and TCP/IP connectivity for DB2.
  • Perform SMP/E installation and maintenance.

Required Technical Skills:

  • DB2 Administration on z/OS: Installation, migration, configuration, subsystem management.
  • Database Management: Catalog/directory management, log management (active/archive), buffer pool tuning, EDM pool tuning.
  • Performance Monitoring: Experience with OMEGAMON, Mainview, or similar tools.
  • Maintenance: Applying PTFs and APAR fixes.
  • Connectivity: Managing DDF, TCP/IP for DB2.
  • Installation Tools: SMP/E installation and maintenance.
  • General Mainframe Skills: Strong understanding of z/OS environment.

Experience:

  • 8-10 years of direct experience in Mainframe DB2 System Administration.
  • Total experience of 10 to 15 years in IT.
