Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Workday Engineer to join our team. This role requires advanced configuration and support expertise across Workday HCM and Financials modules. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, and optimizing Workday workflows, developing advanced reports, and managing integrations. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex configuration across HCM and Financials modules beyond the capability of the internal administrator.
  • Design, configure, and optimize Business Process Framework (BPF) workflows.
  • Assist with security configuration, role-based access, and domain security troubleshooting.
  • Support new module rollouts including Advanced Compensation and Procurement.
  • Develop advanced reports, matrix reports, and composite reports.
  • Build operational dashboards for HR, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Create calculated fields and custom reporting solutions using Workday Report Writer and BIRT.
  • Fulfill ad hoc and recurring reporting requests from business stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and support Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) integrations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration errors across approximately 10 basic integrations (benefits, direct deposit) and 7 complex IT integrations with enterprise platforms using custom EIBs.
  • Support data loads, mass updates, and data correction activities.
  • Assist with integration testing and validation across quarterly releases and change events.
  • SnapLogic experience is a plus as the client is planning to replace file-share/SFTP integrations with SnapLogic in the near term.
  • Resolve complex system issues escalated by the internal Workday administrator.
  • Provide release management support during Workday quarterly updates, including impact analysis, regression testing, and feature adoption guidance.
  • Troubleshoot business process configuration defects and system anomalies.
  • Respond to production issues with urgency and root-cause rigor.
  • Evaluate and prioritize enhancement requests from HR and Finance stakeholders.
  • Advise on Workday best practices, configuration approaches, and platform capabilities.
  • Support tenant optimization following the client’s recent Workday implementation.
  • Identify technical debt and propose remediation strategies.
  • Work closely with the client’s internal Workday Application Manager and Workday Product Manager.
  • Participate in periodic planning discussions related to system improvements and roadmap prioritization.
  • Provide clear documentation and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate effectively with the separate implementation partner to avoid duplication and ensure alignment.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 14+ years of overall HRIS / enterprise application experience.
  • 8-10+ years of deep, hands-on Workday configuration and administration experience across HCM and Financials.
  • Proven experience supporting Workday in post-go-live / production environments (AMS or managed services).
  • Strong background in enterprise-scale Workday environments with active integrations, reporting, and business process complexity.
  • Experience must be from real-world implementations and production support – not limited to training or certification-based exposure.
  • Deep expertise in Workday HCM – including Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, and Absence.
  • Strong experience with Workday Financials – including Accounting, AP/AR, Procurement, and/or Financial Reporting.
  • Proven track record configuring Business Process Framework (conditions, routing, notifications, validations).
  • Expert-level Workday Report Writer skills including calculated fields, BIRT, and composite reports.
  • Hands-on EIB integration development and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working as an AMS, managed services, or support contractor in post-go-live environments. Experience acting as a senior escalation point for complex Workday issues beyond standard administrator capability.
  • Ability to work independently as an escalation resource alongside an internal administrator.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

  • Workday Pro certification in one or more functional areas (HCM, Financials, Integrations).
  • Experience with Workday Advanced Compensation module.
  • Experience with Workday Procurement module.
  • Familiarity with SnapLogic or other iPaaS integration platforms.
  • Prior exposure to financial or similarly regulated industry Workday environments.
  • Experience supporting Workday quarterly release cycles end-to-end.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose complex configuration issues.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to translate technical Workday concepts for business stakeholders.
  • Collaborative working style; comfortable operating within a defined client governance model.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision required.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
