Job Description: NetApp Storage SME

We are seeking an experienced NetApp Storage SME to join our team in Dallas, TX. This is an onsite contract position requiring deep expertise in managing and supporting NetApp ONTAP environments. The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining NetApp storage solutions, including ONTAP, Cloud Volume Ontap, and Azure Netapp Files. The candidate will also be responsible for planning and executing data migrations, leading engineering support for SAN/NAS environments, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Core Responsibilities:
    • Manage and support NetApp ONTAP environments.
    • Design, deploy, and maintain NetApp storage solutions (ONTAP, Cloud Volume Ontap, Azure Netapp Files).
    • Plan, lead, and execute data migrations within NetApp environments.
    • Provide engineering support for SAN/NAS environments, ensuring high performance and reliability.
    • Provision storage, including creating volumes, LUN mapping, and NAS shares.
    • Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, forecasting, and trending.
    • Configure SVM (Storage Virtual Machine) data protection relationships, ensuring replication of data, NFS exports, SMB shares, RBAC settings, and SVM configuration metadata.
    • Set up secure cluster peering and SVM peering for cross-cluster data replication in DR environments.
    • Execute baseline transfers and manage scheduled incremental updates for SVM-level disaster recovery.
    • Perform SVM failover and reactivation of primary systems using SnapMirror for non-disruptive DR activation.
    • Monitor SVM DR relationships, verify snapshot retention, and validate replication health for business continuity.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Extensive experience with migration processes, specifically SnapMirror.
    • Proficiency with NetApp tools such as SnapMirror, Active IQ, and System Manager.
    • Solid understanding of NFS, SMB/CIFS, and FC protocols.
    • Experience in NetApp storage provisioning, replication, and performance troubleshooting.
    • Demonstrated experience configuring SVMs and SVM data protection relationships.
