Job Opportunity: Principal Data Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Architect to join our direct client, Apex, for a critical contract role. This position is based in Boston, MA, but offers a remote work arrangement for candidates on the East Coast.
Role Summary
The Principal Data Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the logical data architecture to support enterprise analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives. This role serves as a crucial bridge between business and technical teams, translating complex analytical requirements into scalable, reusable, and business-aligned logical data models. A key focus will be partnering with the IT department on the Snowflake migration, emphasizing scalable data models, robust star schema strategies, and ensuring the integrity and high value of the migrated data. The role also involves supporting agile delivery methodologies, contributing to backlog planning, and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement logical data architecture for enterprise analytics platforms.
- Provide expert support for the migration of data from Oracle/SQL Server environments to Snowflake.
- Actively build and manage Erwin models, dedicating approximately 30% of time to hands-on modeling.
- Define and document data governance policies, create a comprehensive data roadmap, and strategize data migration processes.
- Collaborate effectively with leadership, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
Top Must-Have Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Erwin data modeling tools.
- Deep expertise and practical experience with Snowflake data warehousing.
- Extensive experience working within the banking domain.
- Strong understanding of semantic modeling, star schemas, and fact-dimension design principles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Collibra and Informatica.
- Familiarity with Atlan, DBT, Power BI datasets, and ER/Studio.
Project Scope:
- Facilitate the migration of customer data to a new digital banking platform.
- Establish robust and scalable logical data models.
- Drive the adoption of domain-based architecture principles.
- Ensure alignment of the enterprise data strategy across various teams.
Additional Information:
- This is a contract position with a duration of 6+ months.
- The role is remote, with a preference for candidates located in EST time zones.
- Immediate submissions are highly preferred.
