Job Description: DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Cloud Operations team. You will be responsible for supporting OpenStack Team Operations, managing projects, developing KPIs, and collaborating with stakeholders on timelines and deliverables. This role involves supporting cloud-based operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to systems. You will tackle complex problems involving multi-site OpenStack deployments and work closely with cross-functional teams including system engineering, software engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, operations, data center teams, and external vendors to deliver a reliable and robust platform from concept to deployment.

  • Support OpenStack Team Operations queue within Infrastructure and Cloud Operations Environments.
  • Manage Projects, develop KPIs and work closely with stakeholders on timeline and deliverables.
  • Support Cloud based operations, monitoring, troubleshooting and assisting triage and resolution of bugs, KPI investigations related to systems.
  • Solve sophisticated problems involving multi-site OpenStack deployments supporting client’s products.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including system engineering, software engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, operations, data center teams, external vendors, and other partners to successfully deliver a reliable and robust platform from concept to prototype to deployments.
  • Directly contribute to the overall quality of deployments and improve time to market next gen products.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the PXE process, including host configuration (BIOS and network card), general network configurations such as VLANs, switch port settings, and cabling.
  • Knowledge of services involved in PXE booting, such as DHCP (DNSMASK), TFTP, HTTP, and ISCSI, essential for troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with OpenStack services and their interactions, including nova, nova placement, Neutron, Glance, Cinder, and Ironic.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across different OpenStack applications, comprehend the OpenStack deployment process, and understand service dependencies and order of operations.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing Python code.
  • Expertise in supporting third-party services like Docker(swarm), MySQL, RabbitMQ, CEPH, HaProxy, and Keepalived.
  • Ability to use tools such as Ansible, Gitlab, Jenkins, and Elastic Search for successful system configuration and maintenance.

Ways to stand out:

  • Experience in large scale QA environments, for product bring ups.
  • Operations Support managing Bug Queues and Support Tickets.
  • Strong Network and Troubleshooting skills.
  • Background with Linux, RHEL, Ansible, Bash and Python.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible and REST APIs.
  • Experience with OpenStack Ironic and Baremetal provisioning.
  • Ability to Root cause analysis of failures.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Santa Clara, CA
