Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Developer/Systems Analyst to join our team in Downtown Des Moines, IA. This is a six-month contract-to-hire position with a hybrid work model. The role requires strong COBOL experience and knowledge of insurance products, particularly Life, Health, and Annuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Analyze and understand actuarial and general accounting principles related to insurance products.
- Ensure accurate calculations, valuations, and financial reporting for Life, Health, and Annuity products.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the mainframe environment.
- Assist in the migration and modernization of legacy systems.
- Perform data extraction, manipulation, and reporting using SQL.
- Support the implementation and utilization of the LifePRO policy administration platform.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong COBOL programming experience.
- Proficiency with JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Solid understanding of insurance products (Life, Health, Annuity).
- Experience with actuarial and general accounting principles in the insurance sector.
- SQL experience for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with the LifePRO policy administration platform is desired.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model (partially onsite in Des Moines, IA).
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (USC/GC Preferred).
- Preference for local candidates.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70,000 – $100,000 per year (Estimated)
