Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary EPC team in Fremont, CA. This team is focused on building the factory of the future by transforming conceptual ideas into detailed, high-performance mechanical and utility system designs fully integrated with advanced manufacturing processes. The role also supports critical vehicle programs and the development of Optimus. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in plumbing and wet utility systems and a well-rounded background in mechanical engineering design. This position requires full-time, on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft mechanical engineering deliverables as Engineer of Record, ensuring full code compliance and high-quality standards.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary coordination and collaboration across teams.
  • Serve as system owner for mechanical systems including HVAC, heat exchangers, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, dust collection, exhaust systems, cooling towers, pumps, fans, and plumbing.
  • Develop and review conceptual designs, identify risks (technical & financial), and propose mitigation solutions.
  • Establish and improve workflows, standards, and design processes.
  • Support construction and commissioning activities, acting as a technical point of contact for issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with external EPC firms during bidding and execution phases to ensure compliance with engineering standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong experience in plumbing and wet utility system design.
  • Proven experience working with EPC firms, design consultancies, or owner/operator environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial facilities or data center design/operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
    • Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Codes
    • NFPA standards
    • SMACNA duct construction standards

Compensation & Location

Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 per year
