About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead AWS Data Engineer to join our team in Fort Mill, SC. This role requires a strong background in data architecture, AWS services, and a proven ability to lead data engineering initiatives, particularly within the financial and banking sectors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ensuring data quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust and scalable data architectures and pipelines on AWS.
- Utilize AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, and others to build efficient data processing solutions.
- Develop and optimize data integration processes, including Sqoop-to-Glue transitions.
- Write and maintain high-quality code in Python, Java, and SQL for data manipulation, querying, and system integration.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with financial industry regulations.
- Optimize Spark jobs for performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud computing.
Required Skills and Experience
- 14+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Extensive experience with AWS services, including Glue, Lambda, S3, and others relevant to data engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL.
- Deep understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
- Proven experience in optimizing Spark jobs.
- Experience with data pipeline design and implementation.
- Familiarity with Sqoop and ETL/ELT processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Client Focus
- Must have experience working with Financial & Banking clients.

- This is an onsite position in Fort Mill, SC.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 per year
