Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Kafka Administrator with extensive System Admin and Cloud Engineering experience, specifically with MS Azure integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, and scaling Kafka clusters, optimizing performance, ensuring security and compliance, and automating deployment processes. This is a remote contract position with a client of Smart IT Frame.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cluster Management: Provisioning, configuring, and scaling Kafka clusters to meet business needs.
  • Azure Integration: Seamlessly bridge Kafka with native Azure services such as Azure Event Hubs (Kafka Surface) and Azure Data Lake Storage for data ingestion.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize broker properties, partition strategies, and JVM settings to achieve required latency and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security measures and ensure compliance for Kafka clusters and services.
  • Automation: Automate the deployment of streaming infrastructure using Terraform to ensure environment parity across Development, UAT, and Production.

Knowledge Areas:

  • Distributed Systems: Deep understanding of partition leadership, replication factors, In-Sync Replicas (ISR), and
