Job Title: MySQL Database Administrator (DBA)
We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role involves installing, configuring, and upgrading MySQL databases, as well as monitoring their health and performance. You will be responsible for database tuning, managing backups and recovery, and ensuring high availability. Troubleshooting database issues, enforcing security, and optimizing slow queries are key aspects of this position. You will also support failover and disaster recovery setups.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade MySQL databases.
- Monitor database health and performance; perform tuning for queries, indexes, and memory.
- Manage backups, recovery, replication, and high availability setups.
- Troubleshoot database issues and enforce security and access controls.
- Optimize slow queries and support failover and disaster recovery setups.
- Use monitoring tools such as MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Work closely with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support schema design and query optimization.
- Implement automation using Shell, Python, or Ansible where applicable.
Essential Skills:
- Strong experience managing MySQL databases across multiple environments (production, staging, development).
- Expertise in database installation, configuration, upgrades, monitoring, backup/recovery, replication, and high availability.
- Proficiency with database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with monitoring tools: MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Knowledge of backup tools such as mysqldump, mysqlpump, Percona XtraBackup.
- Familiarity with scripting/automation in Shell, Python, or Ansible.
This is a full-time, onsite position requiring 5 days a week at our Sunnyvale, CA or Austin, TX location.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)
