Job Title: QA Automation Tester

We are seeking two experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance Automated Testers for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in Hartford, CT. This is a hybrid role with an estimated duration of 03/22/2026 – 03/21/2027. The primary focus will be on ensuring new systems meet functional requirements and possess strong service qualities (Performance, scalability, extensibility, maintainability, security, interoperability). Manual testing experience is also required.

Project Overview:

The DCF relies on mission-critical applications like CT-KIND, Connecticuts Federally reimbursed CCWIS. DCF Information Systems provides technology expertise and services to the agency’s approximately 3,300 employees, striving for cost-effective, high-quality technology services.

Scope of Work:

  • Ensure new systems are built to meet functional requirements and service qualities.
  • Perform manual testing.
  • Review and improve existing systems using new technologies and methodologies.
  • Create breakdowns of systems into components, interactions, and interfaces.
  • Automate the testing of applications following specifications.
  • Create and maintain required technical documentation for test automation components.
  • Follow developed strategies for end-to-end system testing.
  • Assist in testing processes for migration and integration of new and legacy technologies.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be organized, proactive, and self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Possess strong abstract thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Follow testing standards and strategies correctly.
  • Interface with users, sponsors, and stakeholders to understand evolving needs.
  • Follow set standards for automated testing software, policies, and execution.
  • Review system requirements, test scripts, and test scenarios to create appropriate testing workflows.
  • Collaborate with development groups, Product Owners, System Teams, and Operations on best testing strategies and practices.
  • Interface with design and implementation teams to resolve QA issues.
  • Collaborate on acceptance test requirements to ensure high-level requirements are met.
  • Generate unit tests, automated functional tests, regression tests, load tests, code coverage reports, and test scenario pass/fail reports.
  • Ensure testing libraries and artifacts are maintained and up-to-date.
  • Create automated test case scenarios for Agile Delivery Teams to meet Acceptance Criteria.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ Experience Azure DevOps suite (Azure Boards, Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, Azure Test Plans, Azure Artifacts).
  • 5+ years’ Experience in automated testing with UFT (Unified Functional Testing) and VBScript or different programming language.
  • 5+ years’ Experience with Automated Testing Frameworks and Manual Testing, Test Methodologies, Test Strategies and Test Beds.
  • 5+ years’ Experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining UI, Back End, API, and Hardware Test Automation.
  • Involved in a minimum of two large-scaled Agile software development projects.
  • Knowledge of Testing Tools, Testing Frameworks, Continuous Integration Methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Web Application Testing, Distributed System Testing, Performance Testing, Regression Testing, Database Testing, Mobile Testing, Security Testing, Accessibility Testing, Web Service Testing.
  • Knowledge of .Net, SharePoint, Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling and Database Design preferred.
  • Knowledge of Application Modeling and Design.
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures.
  • Thorough understanding of standard QA best practices in an Agile environment.
  • Good understanding of DevOps and setting up Continuous Integration Environments.
  • Experience in Test Driven Development.
  • Object-Oriented design principles and design patterns.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with QA Functional test suites such as Unified Functional Testing.
  • Working automated testing knowledge for C#, WCF, jQuery, XML, JSON, WebApi, SOAP, .NET, JavaScript.
  • Testing experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, WCF) and tools such as SOAPUI.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or technology-related baccalaureate degree or commensurate experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, .Net Framework.
  • Knowledge of Virtualized Hosting Environments.
  • SQL knowledge.

Administrative Considerations:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Work Schedule: Full-Time 40hrs – Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM.
  • Candidate must be willing to work onsite a minimum of 20% at 505 Hudson Street Hartford, CT.
  • Candidate must be local to CT.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $70,000 – $130,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Hartford, CT
