Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to support enterprise reporting needs across Operations, Clinical, and Finance domains. This role is crucial for translating business and clinical requirements into robust, scalable Power BI solutions while maintaining and enhancing existing reports within our analytics ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), business stakeholders, and data engineering teams within a regulated healthcare environment. This is a hands-on delivery role focused on development, not an architecture or people management position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with business, clinical, and finance stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document reporting requirements.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI reports and interactive dashboards to meet business needs.
- Build and maintain efficient Power BI semantic models utilizing DAX and established data modeling best practices.
- Implement and manage security features, including row-level security (RLS), to ensure data access controls.
- Ensure that all developed reports are performant, user-friendly, and analytically sound.
- Write and maintain complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from data warehouse and operational sources.
- Validate data accuracy rigorously and reconcile any discrepancies with upstream data sources.
- Partner with data engineering teams to address data issues or implement necessary data enhancements.
- Provide support for existing Power BI reports, including troubleshooting, bug fixes, implementing enhancements, and optimizing performance.
- Troubleshoot report refresh failures, data integrity issues, and user-reported defects promptly.
- Participate actively in deployment, release management, and change management processes.
- Develop solutions within the company’s analytics governance framework, adhering to security, naming conventions, and documentation standards.
- Follow established development workflows and contribute to team documentation and the continuous improvement of best practices.
- Perform other assigned duties to ensure the successful completion of projects and stakeholder satisfaction.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- A minimum of 6+ years of professional experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Solid working knowledge of SQL, including proficiency with joins, aggregations, and basic query optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with DAX, including the creation of measures and calculated columns.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements effectively.
- Experience supporting production BI reports and responding efficiently to user issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the healthcare industry, specifically with clinical, operational, or financial reporting.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, Protected Health Information (PHI) handling, and data security best practices.
- Exposure to Azure-based data platforms such as Azure SQL, Synapse, Fabric, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Agile development practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively cross-functionally to implement reporting solutions.
- Working knowledge of STAR schema modeling patterns for Power BI development.
- Ability to maintain a flexible perspective when approaching both familiar and unfamiliar work projects.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $55 – $75 per year (Estimated)
