Job Overview:
NCDIT Transportation is seeking a Java Mid-Level Technical Specialist to support the DMV Traffic Records Systems (TRS) team for the eCrash / NC-CRIS project. This role is crucial for maintaining enterprise Java applications and supporting critical crash data management systems. The specialist will also be responsible for providing 24×7 second-level technical support, ensuring the continuous operation of these vital systems.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to effectively translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions. This includes managing intricate Java development tasks, coordinating release schedules, and actively participating in testing, documentation, and user training initiatives to ensure successful project delivery and adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance enterprise Java applications.
- Provide second-level technical support for crash data management systems, including 24×7 on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and document technical requirements.
- Develop and implement technical solutions based on approved requirements.
- Manage complex Java development tasks, including coding, debugging, and unit testing.
- Coordinate and manage application release schedules.
- Assist in the testing, documentation, and user training phases of projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Java/JEE, Oracle databases, and XML.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Web Services, JSP, Servlets, Spring framework, Struts framework, Eclipse IDE, and version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN).
- Proven experience in application analysis, design, testing, documentation, and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical helpdesk or production support.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills:
- Java Certification.
- Experience with Visual C++, .NET, CORBA, EJB, and Hibernate.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $75,000 – $110,000 per year (Estimated)
