Job Title: Business Analyst (CGL, Commercial General Liability, Property and Casualty Insurance)
Location:
Kansas City, MO preferred, but open to other locations. This role is primarily focused on supporting operations within Missouri, but flexibility exists for candidates in other states.
Role Description:
This Business Analyst role is crucial for the implementation and maintenance of ISO General Liability (GL) circular filings, rate filings, and rule revisions. The analyst will be responsible for translating complex ISO updates into detailed system configuration requirements and providing IT support for these changes. A key aspect of this role involves validating ISO GL circulars, state-specific variations, and transition rules to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- ISO GL Circular Filing Implementation: Review and interpret ISO General Liability circulars, rate filings, classification changes, and rule revisions. Translate ISO updates into detailed system configuration requirements. Answer IT questions regarding ISO GL configuration requirements. Validate ISO circulars, state-specific ISO variations, and transition rules.
- Rating System Configuration Testing: Configure ISO Loss costs, rates, classification codes, minimum premiums, Increased Limits Factors (ILFs), and Deductibles. Configure experience rating parameters and schedule rating logic. Ensure rating algorithms accurately reflect ISO manuals and state-specific deviations. Conduct detailed unit, regression, and parallel testing to validate premium calculations.
- Forms Rule Alignment: Ensure ISO policy forms and endorsements trigger correctly based on classification, limits, state, special exposures, and other relevant factors. Confirm system logic aligns with ISO eligibility rules and underwriting guidelines.
- Quality Assurance Controls: Perform premium validation testing against ISO manual examples. Identify discrepancies between manual rates and system output. Develop and maintain documentation of rating logic and system workflows. Support internal and external go-live audits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, IT System Developers, Actuarial, Compliance, Regulatory, Underwriting, and Operations teams. Clarify ambiguous ISO rules and propose implementation solutions. Assist underwriting and IT teams with rating questions and issue resolution.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of Commercial General Liability (CGL) experience.
- Strong knowledge of the ISO CGL Manual, classification codes, experience rating plans, Increased Limits Factors (ILFs), and Deductibles.
- Experience working with policy administration or rating systems such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, Policy Decisions, Assure DXC, etc.
- Strong analytical and testing skills with the ability to interpret ISO’s GL rating manuals and translate them into logic.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
- Experience with premium audit adjustments.
- CPCU or ARM designation is preferred.
