Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ab Initio Developer to join our team and provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration solutions. This role is critical for ensuring high-performance processing of large data volumes within a federal/public sector environment, adhering to strict security and data management policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain Ab Initio graphs and ETL applications.
  • Implement enterprise-complexity ETL solutions using Ab Initio components (GDE, Co-Operating System, Express IT, Data Quality Environment, Continuous Flows, Amazon S3 utilities).
  • Design ETL frameworks for auditing and data reconciliation to manage batch and real-time interfaces.
  • Develop ETL jobs for automation and monitoring; optimize job performance using ETL tools or custom procedures.
  • Integrate and map data across relational databases (DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Greenplum).
  • Automate loading of data from multiple sources into BI/MI systems.
  • Analyze and develop optimal code to maintain high performance for processing large volumes of data.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and stakeholders; mentor junior/mid-level developers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and deliver knowledge transfer sessions to SSA staff.
  • Ensure compliance with SSA security, privacy, and data management policies.
  • Communicate technical information to management, customers, team members, and vendors at appropriate levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (Masters or Doctorate may substitute for required experience).
  • 10+ years as a software developer with strong Ab Initio experience.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing graphs and ETL applications using Ab Initio in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience with Ab Initio lifecycle, design, implementation, and code migration.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience integrating with DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Greenplum.
  • Experience scripting in Linux to automate ETL solutions and data migration jobs.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts (star and snowflake schemas).
  • Experience with automated testing, test-driven development, performance analysis, and continuous integration.
  • Proven ability to research requirements, design solutions, and lead technical implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and able to complete repetitive production tasks accurately and on time.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with modern development tools and methodologies.
  • Experience working on Agile projects and familiarity with Agile practices.

Special Requirements

Must be onsite 5 days a week in Woodlawn, MD. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Experience with modern development tools and methodologies. Experience working on Agile projects and familiarity with Agile practices.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $156,000 – $197,600 per year (Estimated)
