Role Overview: Senior Ab Initio Developer
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ab Initio Developer for a critical role based in Whippany, NJ. This position requires a professional with a deep background in the financial services sector and a minimum of 15 years of total professional experience. The successful candidate will lead end-to-end ETL project implementations, leveraging advanced Ab Initio toolsets to deliver robust data solutions. This is a hybrid role requiring at least two days per week on-site at our Whippany office.
Technical Requirements and Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex ETL and API solutions using Ab Initio with a focus on massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture.
- Utilize the full Ab Initio suite, including GDE, Control Center, Plan IT, and Conduct IT, to manage and execute data workflows.
- Develop sophisticated Ab Initio ETL processes that translate complex business requirements into scalable technology data solutions.
- Drive the design of recoverable and resilient data architectures, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
- Perform functional and non-functional assessments for global implementations, focusing on real-time processing and batch performance.
- Write and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries for data transformation, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Implement secure coding practices and adhere to strict data governance and risk control standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevOps practices into the data engineering lifecycle.
- Utilize version control systems like Git for managing codebase, configurations, and collaborative development.
Domain Expertise and Soft Skills
- Extensive experience within the financial services industry, specifically dealing with banking or card data.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture and ETL design patterns.
- Ability to represent the technical team in high-level calls with business stakeholders and external partners.
- Strategic thinking capabilities to align data engineering efforts with broader business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration across global teams.
Experience and Education
- Minimum of 15 years of total IT experience is a mandatory requirement for this senior-level position.
- At least 8+ years of hands-on, deep technical experience specifically with Ab Initio tools.
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end ETL projects in a high-pressure financial environment.
- Experience with Unix scripting and basic system administration to support data processing tasks.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year
