Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Active Directory Operations Lead (AD Engineer) to manage and maintain our Active Directory environment. This role is hands-on and operations-focused, requiring strong technical expertise in AD DS, GPO, and PowerShell scripting. The position is based in Princeton, NJ, and requires 5 days onsite work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day Active Directory operations, including user/group management, OU administration, GPO changes, permissions, and access requests.
  • Manage AD incident management and troubleshooting, addressing authentication issues, replication/DNS-related AD errors, login failures, account lockouts, and GPO application problems.
  • Lead joiner/mover/leaver (JML) processes, ensuring clean provisioning/deprovisioning, access governance, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Perform AD health monitoring, including replication checks, SYSVOL status, domain controller health, time synchronization, AD backups/restore support, and routine maintenance.
  • Drive security hardening and operational controls, implementing least privilege principles, tiered administration models, privileged group reviews, and ensuring policy compliance.
  • Manage change requests with thorough impact analysis, clear rollout/backout plans, and coordination with IAM/Security teams.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and runbooks.
  • Mentor junior AD administrators and ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for AD service availability are met.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
  • In-depth knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPO) and their management.
  • Solid understanding of LDAP concepts.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for AD automation, reporting, and administration.
  • Experience with AD incident management and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with access governance and JML processes.
  • Experience with AD health monitoring and maintenance.
  • Understanding of security hardening principles for AD.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
