Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer with strong expertise in LabVIEW and aerospace testing systems. This role focuses on developing and supporting automated test equipment (ATE) for mixed-signal and embedded systems in MIL/Aerospace environments. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of hardware integration, communication protocols, and test system validation. This is a contract position with a duration of 6+ months, requiring onsite presence in Hauppauge, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems for aerospace applications.
  • Integrate NI PXI/PCI hardware and third-party components.
  • Develop test solutions using LabVIEW, TestStand, and Python.
  • Perform system bring-up, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct failure analysis and resolve production test issues.
  • Ensure compliance with MIL and avionics testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, RTCA/DO-160, IPC-610).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of test processes and automation.
  • Maintain documentation for test systems and procedures.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in test system software and hardware development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with NI PXI, PCI hardware (DAQ cards, chassis).
  • Expertise in developing and upgrading automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Strong experience in testing mixed-signal systems, embedded processors, FPGAs, and power systems.
  • Advanced expertise in NI LabVIEW, TestStand, and Python.
  • Strong knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, JTAG, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, UDP).
  • Hands-on experience with test bench equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, spectrum analyzers, power supplies).
  • Strong experience in system bring-up, troubleshooting, calibration, and failure analysis.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Experience with test equipment debugging in production environments.
  • Knowledge of MIL/Avionics standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, RTCA/DO-160, IPC-610).
  • Experience with hardware integration and third-party equipment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in aerospace or avionics programs.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and code repository management.
  • Experience with AFDX and advanced avionics interfaces.
  • Experience in prototyping and bench testing methodologies.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $70 – $80 per year

Location: Hauppauge, NY
