Role Overview: Agile Coach for MTA Transformation

Vizon is seeking six (6) highly experienced and dynamic Enterprise Agile Coaches to join our Agile Center of Excellence (CoE). This critical consulting role is instrumental in guiding the MTA-IT organization through its Agile Product Transformation. The ideal candidate will possess a potent blend of technical expertise, exceptional coaching and change management skills, and a profound understanding of Agile principles and practices. This position involves hands-on coaching, mentoring, and guiding product teams, product leaders, and stakeholders throughout their Agile adoption journey. The role requires a strong emphasis on adopting Agile methodologies, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement aligned with organizational objectives. Reporting directly to the Deputy CTO and/or the Director of the Center of Excellence, this role is pivotal in advancing Agile practices while ensuring seamless integration with the broader strategic transformation initiatives at MTA IT.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Transformation Coaching

  • Collaborate closely with CoE leadership to conceptualize and implement a customized Agile transformation roadmap.
  • Serve as a key mentor, influencer, and change advocate, empowering teams to explore innovative ways of working and collaborating at an enterprise level.
  • Provide robust support and coaching for large-scale Agile Product transformation initiatives, executing outcome-driven plans to accelerate Agile adoption, enhance cross-team collaboration, and achieve operational excellence.
  • Coach diverse teams, including Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and other key stakeholders, on various Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) to cultivate advanced Agile maturity.
  • Partner effectively with product teams to embed Agile and product-centric practices, thereby improving delivery efficiency and maximizing business value.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to teams and mid-level leadership, consistently reinforcing core Agile principles and best practices.

Training and Facilitation

  • Design and deliver engaging, interactive workshops, comprehensive training sessions, and practical hands-on labs to enhance the skills of teams and leaders in Agile principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Customize training materials to cater to the specific needs of various teams, including Infosec, Operations, user-facing applications, and more.
  • Educate teams on essential technical best practices, encompassing DevOps, Extreme Programming (XP) engineering practices (Test-Driven Development – TDD, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment – CI/CD, pair programming), and Lean principles.

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and adaptation by embedding effective retrospective practices and promoting data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze team performance data meticulously to pinpoint areas for enhancement and subsequently recommend and implement actionable improvement strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams to identify and address challenges encountered during Agile adoption, providing tailored coaching and support.
  • Facilitate alignment and foster collaboration among diverse teams and stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful Agile transformation journey.

Best Practices Implementation and Tools

  • Promote and standardize Agile practices, metrics, and workflows across all teams.
  • Leverage tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, and other Atlassian suite products to optimize Agile processes, streamline workflows, and generate insightful reports.
  • Standardize and diligently monitor key metrics related to team health, velocity, and overall transformation progress.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years in software development roles.
  • At least 8 years of dedicated experience in Agile coaching positions.
  • Proven track record of successfully coaching Agile product transformations within large, complex organizational environments.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Agile Coach (ICP-ACC, ICP-ATF), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or equivalent credentials are highly valued.

Technical Proficiency

  • Comprehensive expertise in various Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and LeSS, with a deep understanding of their practical application.
  • Strong systems thinking capabilities and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures effectively.
  • Profound understanding of technical practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and DevSecOps principles.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and guide teams towards Agile success.

Agile Expertise

  • Comprehensive understanding of diverse Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS) and their practical implementation scenarios.
  • Deep and broad experience in driving Agile adoption and successfully transitioning teams or entire organizations from traditional methodologies to Agile ways of working.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Lean Portfolio Management and product-centric operational practices.
  • A solid understanding of organizational behavior and change management principles.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in metrics-driven coaching, utilizing Agile metrics to inform strategic decisions and drive measurable improvements.
  • Experience with organizational behavior and change management principles.
  • Familiarity with Lean Portfolio Management and product-centric approaches to work.
  • A strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development is encouraged.

As an Agile Coach Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting MTA-IT’s Agile transformation journey, focusing on coaching teams and fostering collaboration. Special Requirements

Active LinkedIn required. Hybrid role with potential for remote work when possible. Interviews: one on Teams, one onsite. Onsite presence required for undefined days per week.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $75 – $100 per year (Estimated)
