Job Title: Agile Coach Specialist
The State of Texas is seeking an experienced Agile Coach Specialist to lead and implement Agile transformation initiatives within its Medicaid/CHIP IT teams. This is a critical role focused on driving efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across various IT functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement Agile transformation initiatives across Medicaid/CHIP IT teams.
- Train, mentor, and guide teams on Agile principles and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Develop and deliver comprehensive Agile training programs and curriculum tailored to organizational needs.
- Support teams in adopting and effectively utilizing Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe practices.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts, ensuring Agile best practices are consistently followed and embedded within team workflows.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including IT leadership and business units, to ensure successful Agile adoption and alignment with strategic goals.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and events as needed, ensuring they are productive and achieve their intended outcomes.
- Act as a change agent, fostering a culture of agility, transparency, and collaboration throughout the organization.
- Identify and address impediments to Agile adoption and team performance.
- Provide coaching and guidance to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team members to enhance their Agile capabilities.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is required.
- Significant experience in the Medicaid domain is mandatory.
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience specifically as an Agile Coach.
- Total IT experience of 14+ years is required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- Proven ability to make quick and effective decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated experience as a Scrum Master and Agile Coach in enterprise-level environments.
- Must hold a SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification or an equivalent certification.
- Active Texas Driver’s License and LinkedIn profile are mandatory for submission.
Preferred Certifications:
- Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)
- SAFe Agilist / Leading SAFe
- SAFe Program Consultant / Practitioner
- SAFe Release Train Engineer
- Scrum Master / DevOps / Product Owner certifications
Work Location & Requirements:
- The primary work location will be at the HHSC offices in Austin, TX (4601 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX 78751 or other HHSC Offices in Austin, TX).
- The worker may be required to work onsite at HHSC Offices in Austin, TX, all 5 days a week.
- Candidates must be LOCAL TO THE AUSTIN AREA (within a 50-mile radius). Out-of-state candidates or those planning to move to Texas are NOT permitted. Candidates must already reside in Texas.
Interview Mode:
- Candidates must be available for phone interviews.
- In-person interviews may be required if requested by the client.
- Interviews may also be conducted through Microsoft Teams.
This role is crucial for advancing the State of Texas’s IT initiatives within the Medicaid and CHIP programs. We are looking for a seasoned professional who can bring a wealth of Agile coaching experience and a deep understanding of the healthcare IT landscape.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70 – $90 per year (Estimated)
