Role Overview: Anaplan Model Builder Consultant

Incorporan Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Anaplan Model Builder Consultant for a long-term engagement of 12+ months. This position is based in Pleasanton, California, with the flexibility of remote work, aligning with the evolving professional standards of 2026. As a senior consultant, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Anaplan models, from initial requirement gathering to final deployment and production support. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in complex data environments and possesses the technical depth to build scalable, high-performance financial planning solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the Anaplan platform effectively supports the organization’s strategic financial goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Model Architecture and Configuration: Design and build sophisticated Anaplan models that address complex business requirements. This includes the creation and management of Lists, Modules, and Data Hubs, ensuring that the architecture is optimized for both performance and user accessibility.
  • Dashboard Development: Develop high-quality reporting dashboards using the Anaplan New UX. These dashboards must provide actionable insights for stakeholders and executive leadership, facilitating data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
  • Performance Tuning: Conduct regular audits of Anaplan models to perform space optimization and formula tuning. You will be expected to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring that the platform remains responsive even as data complexity increases.
  • Data Integration: Coordinate with data integration and migration teams to facilitate the seamless flow of information between Anaplan and other enterprise systems. You will leverage your knowledge of middleware tools like Informatica, MuleSoft, or Boomi to support robust integration patterns.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical artifacts, including system designs, technical specifications, data flow diagrams, and business architecture diagrams. These documents will serve as the blueprint for current and future platform enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a primary point of contact for business users, leading front-end discussions to gather requirements and manage expectations. You will be responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts. You will lead the testing phase to ensure that all models are accurate, reliable, and meet the specified business requirements before they are moved to production.

Required Qualifications and Technical Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is required.
  • Professional Experience: 3 to 8 years of experience in supporting enterprise-scale financial platforms. A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience specifically as an Anaplan Model Builder is mandatory.
  • Certification: Candidates must have completed Anaplan Level 3 Model Building certification to demonstrate their advanced proficiency with the platform.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Anaplan features including ALM (Application Lifecycle Management), Lists, Modules, and the New UX. Knowledge of APIs (SOAP, REST) and other integration patterns is highly desirable.
  • Process Knowledge: A solid understanding of financial planning and budgeting processes is essential for creating effective models.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to create order out of chaos. You must be able to operate independently with minimal oversight and demonstrate proactiveness in taking up broader organizational initiatives.
