Position Summary: Ansible for RHEL Architect
We are looking for a visionary Ansible for RHEL Architect to join our elite US Consulting West team. This is a remote-first role designed for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of traditional virtualization and modern containerization. The primary focus of this engagement is OpenShift Virtualization (OCP Virt), a transformative technology that allows organizations to run and manage virtual machine (VM) workloads alongside containers on the Red Hat OpenShift platform. As an architect, you will be responsible for designing the automation frameworks that make this hybrid environment possible. In 2026, the shift toward unified infrastructure management has made this role one of the most critical in the IT sector.
Core Responsibilities and Architectural Leadership
- Design and implement enterprise-grade Ansible automation frameworks specifically tailored for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OpenShift Virtualization, guiding the migration of legacy VM workloads into a container-native ecosystem.
- Develop sophisticated Ansible playbooks and roles for automated provisioning, configuration management, and ongoing Day-2 operations.
- Architect solutions that leverage the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to scale automation across thousands of nodes.
- Integrate KubeVirt-based technologies to optimize hardware resource utilization and improve system resilience.
- Provide strategic advisory services to clients, helping them navigate the complexities of cloud-native networking and persistent storage.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment cycles.
- Conduct deep-dive technical assessments of existing infrastructure to identify opportunities for automation and modernization.
Technical Qualifications and Expertise
The successful candidate will have a mastery of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and a deep understanding of system architecture. You must have extensive experience with the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including the creation of custom execution environments and the management of private automation hubs. Hands-on experience with OpenShift is mandatory, particularly with features like live migration, OVN-Kubernetes networking, and storage classes. Familiarity with the broader CNCF ecosystem and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles is highly desirable. Knowledge of Python for custom Ansible module development is a significant plus.
Strategic Vision and Remote Collaboration
As a remote architect, you must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead distributed teams. You will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into technical blueprints that can be executed by engineering teams. Your role is not just to build, but to educate and empower clients to embrace a culture of automation. By bridging the gap between traditional IT operations and modern cloud-native practices, you will play a pivotal role in the digital evolution of our clients’ enterprises. This 6+ month contract offers the chance to work on the cutting edge of Red Hat technology from anywhere in the United States.
Industry Context and Career Growth
The demand for OpenShift and Ansible expertise has reached an all-time high as enterprises seek to reduce their reliance on proprietary virtualization stacks. By mastering OCP Virt, you are positioning yourself as a leader in the next wave of infrastructure management. This role provides exposure to high-stakes environments and the opportunity to influence the architectural direction of major US corporations. Joining the US Consulting West team means working with some of the brightest minds in the industry, ensuring your skills remain sharp and relevant in an ever-changing market.
