Job Description: API Platform Engineer
We are urgently hiring for an experienced API Platform Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the stability and efficient operation of our API gateway, particularly Kong, in a production environment. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in unblocking development teams and maintaining a secure, scalable platform.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of API gateway stability, ensuring quick unblocking of development teams.
- Safely operate and manage Kong in a production environment.
- Implement and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Ensure secure and scalable network architectures.
- Deploy, scale, and operate containerized workloads.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable and automated deployments.
- Implement and operate monitoring, logging, and tracing systems.
- Develop automation scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and serverless services.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency with CloudFormation and/or Terraform for programmatic infrastructure management.
- Networking & Security: Solid understanding of VPCs, subnets, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, and TLS/SSL, with a focus on secure, scalable architectures.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
- CI/CD & Automation: Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, emphasizing automation, reliability, and safe deployment practices.
- Monitoring & Observability: Ability to implement and operate logging, metrics, and distributed tracing using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Scripting & Programming: Working knowledge of Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages to support automation and tooling.
This is a long-term contract position. We are looking for local candidates only for this onsite role in Malvern, PA.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 per year (Estimated)
