Role Overview
The APIGEE Consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing API management solutions using the Apigee platform. This role requires a deep understanding of API lifecycle management, security, and performance optimization. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that API strategies align with organizational goals and provide robust, scalable, and secure integration capabilities. Given the hybrid nature of the role and the requirement to be deployed at a business office, strong interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- APIGEE Platform Expertise: Leverage extensive experience with the Apigee API management platform to design, configure, and deploy API proxies, policies, and products.
- API Development & Management: Develop and manage APIs throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and versioning.
- Integration Solutions: Design and implement robust integration solutions, ensuring seamless connectivity between various systems and applications using APIs.
- Security Implementation: Implement and enforce API security best practices, including authentication, authorization, threat protection, and data encryption within the Apigee environment.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor API performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and responsiveness of API services.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level support for API-related issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and work with development teams to resolve incidents efficiently.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for API designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with business users, product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Business Office Deployment: Work directly within a business office environment, requiring strong communication and presentation skills to interact with non-technical stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business value.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in IT, with a significant portion dedicated to API management and integration.
- APIGEE Proficiency: Demonstrated strong experience with the Apigee platform, including Apigee Edge or Apigee X, covering API proxy development, policy enforcement, analytics, and developer portal management.
- Integration Knowledge: Solid understanding of various integration patterns, protocols (REST, SOAP), and technologies. Experience with microservices architecture is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences is critical.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Location: This is a hybrid role requiring regular onsite presence in New York City, NY. Only candidates who are local to the NYC area will be considered.
