Position Overview: Application Management Platform Support Engineer
The Application Management Platform Support Engineer is a pivotal role within our client’s enterprise technology infrastructure, specifically designed to bridge the gap between application development and cloud-based operational excellence. Based onsite in the vibrant tech hub of Charlotte, North Carolina, this 12-month contract position (Job ID: CGEMJP00329982) offers a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned professional to manage and optimize complex application environments. As the digital landscape evolves, our client is seeking an engineer who can not only maintain existing systems but also lead the charge in cloud migrations and automation initiatives.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
- Enterprise Application Support: Provide high-level L2 and L3 support for a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications, ensuring maximum uptime and performance. This includes troubleshooting complex middleware, application, and infrastructure issues.
- Cloud Migration & Onboarding: Actively participate in and support cloud migration projects, including Data Center (DPC) and Next Generation Data Center (NGDC) transitions. You will be responsible for onboarding applications to modern platform services.
- Monitoring & Observability: Implement and manage advanced monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and ThousandEyes. Your goal is to create a proactive monitoring environment that identifies potential issues before they impact the business.
- Infrastructure Services Management: Oversee critical infrastructure components including API gateways (Apigee), file transfer protocols (SFTP, NDM), and object storage (S3). You will also coordinate with platform teams for server provisioning and configuration.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and enhance automation scripts using Shell (Bash/Korn) to streamline operational tasks, maintenance routines, and monitoring alerts.
- Security & Compliance: Manage digital certificates and authentication keys using tools like Venafi. Ensure all applications comply with identity and access management standards, including AD, Azure AD, SSO, and OAuth2.
- Network Configuration: Work closely with networking teams to manage load balancers, Virtual IPs (VIPs), and AVI controllers to ensure efficient traffic management and application availability.
Required Technical Qualifications
- Cloud Expertise: Solid conceptual and hands-on knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms. Experience with cloud-native services and infrastructure-as-code is highly desirable.
- System Administration: Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration, including deep knowledge of filesystems and system-level troubleshooting.
- Scripting Skills: Advanced shell scripting capabilities are essential for automating repetitive tasks and building robust support tools.
- Monitoring Tools: Proven experience with enterprise monitoring stacks like Splunk, AppDynamics, or similar observability platforms.
- Middleware Knowledge: Familiarity with web servers and application servers such as Tomcat is required to support the application lifecycle.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with data masking and privacy tools like Delphix or PDiLL.
- Knowledge of API management platforms, specifically Apigee.
- Understanding of complex networking topologies involving VIPs and Load Balancers.
- Previous experience in large-scale financial or corporate environments is a plus.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $115,000 – $155,000 per year (Estimated)
