Role Overview: Applied GenAI Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Applied GenAI Engineer to join our cutting-edge technology team in New York City. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about bridging the gap between theoretical artificial intelligence and practical, production-grade business solutions. As an Applied GenAI Engineer, you will be at the forefront of the AI revolution, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic AI frameworks to solve some of the most complex challenges facing the modern enterprise today. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will take problems from use-case definition to prototype and into production, building secure, governed, and measurable solutions.
Key Responsibilities and Strategic Impact
- Architect and deploy production-ready LLM applications focusing on RAG, advanced summarization, extraction, and entity resolution.
- Design and develop sophisticated agentic workflows that utilize multi-step planning, tool-using agents, and robust guardrails.
- Build and optimize data intelligence pipelines, including complex document parsing, chunking strategies, and hybrid retrieval systems.
- Establish rigorous evaluation harnesses using golden datasets, regression tests, and automated scoring to ensure model reliability.
- Implement enterprise-grade reliability patterns to defend against prompt injection, mitigate hallucinations, and ensure safe tool execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in data engineering and governance to align AI solutions with corporate standards for entitlements and lineage.
- Optimize AI performance and cost-efficiency within a cloud-native environment while maintaining strict security and privacy controls.
- Support primary use cases including data lineage, risk/compliance analytics, and fraud detection augmentation.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in Python engineering and API development for high-scale, production-grade services.
- Extensive hands-on experience with LLM patterns, including tool calling, RAG, and structured output generation.
- Proven track record in building search and retrieval systems using vector databases, keyword-based indexing, and hybrid re-ranking.
- Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Ability to translate vague or ambiguous business requirements into concrete technical specifications and measurable outcomes.
- Experience in regulated industries such as Finance or Healthcare is a significant plus for navigating audit and model governance.
- Familiarity with Knowledge Graphs, entity linking, and semantic search technologies.
- Knowledge of LLMOps, including prompt versioning, evaluation pipelines, and real-time monitoring.
Work Environment and Culture
This position is based in our New York City office and follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days of in-person collaboration per week. Compensation & Location
Salary: $185,000 – $265,000 per year (Estimated)
