Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned AS/400 Technical Lead to spearhead our legacy systems modernization and maintenance efforts. This is a ‘native’ AS/400 role, meaning we require an expert who is deeply familiar with the nuances of the platform and can lead a team from initial concept design through to full-scale deployment and post-implementation support. The successful candidate will be a mission-driven leader capable of delivering highly scalable programs that support our core business operations. This role offers the flexibility of Remote or Hybrid work, though it is integrated with our Folsom, CA operations.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical huddle and collaborate with Business Analysts and CVS Technical Leads to clarify and refine system requirements.
  • Provide detailed effort estimations, preparation, and oversight of the technical roadmap.
  • Conduct comprehensive system analysis to identify areas for optimization and modernization within the AS/400 environment.
  • Create and review technical designs, ensuring they meet enterprise standards for scalability and reliability.
  • Manage change control processes using ALDON, ensuring all code promotions are documented and secure.
  • Engineer high-quality code using RPGLE and CLLE, and perform rigorous peer reviews to maintain code integrity.
  • Develop and execute unit test plans, overseeing bug fixing and troubleshooting during the development cycle.
  • Coordinate with QA and Regression teams to ensure seamless project promotion and stability.
  • Administer deployment plans and provide critical support during the post-implementation warranty period.
  • Facilitate technical huddles and mentor junior developers on AS/400 best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of mandatory experience in AS/400 development and leadership. Mastery of RPGLE and CLLE is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with strong experience in Synon and Rxclaim systems. You should have a proven track record of managing the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in a complex enterprise environment. Beyond technical skills, we require a leader who can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Candidates must be prepared to provide a comprehensive list of past experience references and all requested documentation during the interview process. Compensation & Location

Salary: $140,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
