Role Overview: AS/400 Technical Lead
Smart IT Frame LLC is looking for a seasoned AS/400 Technical Lead to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is designed for a ‘native’ AS/400 expert who can lead projects from conceptual design through to deployment and post-implementation support. You will be responsible for creating highly scalable programs that drive mission-critical business functions, ensuring technical excellence across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical huddle and contribute to concept design, deployment, and post-implementation phases.
- Clarify complex business requirements with Analysts and provide accurate effort estimations.
- Create and review technical design documents, ensuring they meet architectural standards.
- Manage change control and promotion activities using ALDON.
- Engineer high-quality code and perform rigorous peer reviews.
- Develop and execute Unit Test Plans and oversee bug fixing and regression testing.
- Administer deployment plans and provide warranty-period support following production releases.
- Engage in Quality Assurance to maintain high system reliability.
Required Technical Expertise
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in AS/400 (IBM i) development and leadership.
- Expert-level proficiency in RPGLE and CLLE programming.
- Strong experience with Synon (CA 2E) for application development.
- Familiarity with Rxclaim is considered a significant advantage.
- Proven track record of leading technical teams and managing complex code promotions.
- Deep understanding of ALDON for version control and change management.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
