Position Summary
Pacer Staffing is looking for a seasoned AS400 COBOL Developer for a high-priority contract engagement in Schaumburg, Illinois. This role is designed for a technical specialist with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mid-range systems development. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of legacy architectures and the ability to integrate these systems with modern business requirements. This is a Contract-C2C opportunity requiring immediate availability and a high level of technical autonomy.
Core Technical Competencies
- 10+ years of professional experience in COBOL AS400 and Cobol ILE development.
- Comprehensive knowledge of iSeries and AS400 (Mid-Range) environments.
- Proficiency in ILE, COBOL/400, CLLE, and SQL.
- Significant experience with DB2400 database structures and query optimization.
- Familiarity with ACMS/MOM for application control and management.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret functional and technical requirements accurately.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain robust code for enterprise-level AS400 applications.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and capability teams to discuss and refine project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to the development team and participate in hands-on coding tasks.
- Build efficient and effective solutions by partnering with cross-functional team members.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement fine-tuning strategies for existing applications.
- Engage in the full Agile/Scrum lifecycle, contributing to continuous improvement and learning.
- Support the onshore/offshore delivery model to ensure seamless project execution.
- Assist in developing the technology roadmap for the team, focusing on both functional and technical enhancements.
Engagement Details
This position requires a professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. You will be expected to coordinate directly with clients for requirement clarification and solution design discussions. Candidates must be prepared to share their current location and visa status upon application. Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
