Job Summary
Smart Caliber is looking for a seasoned Automation Test Lead to spearhead our Playwright and Selenium automation strategy in Jersey City, NJ. This is an onsite leadership role requiring a blend of deep technical expertise and the ability to mentor a high-performing team of UI and API automation engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of enterprise-level applications through robust automation frameworks.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable automation frameworks for functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Lead a team of automation engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated test scripts using Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, and Java.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and other DevOps tools.
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to align testing strategies with product goals.
- Track and report on automation coverage, quality metrics, and defect trends.
- Evaluate and onboard emerging tools to enhance the existing automation stack.
- Manage the full testing lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in software automation testing.
- Expert-level proficiency in Playwright, Selenium, and Rest Assured.
- Strong programming skills in Java and experience with frameworks like TestNG, JUnit, and Cucumber.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, specifically creating Jenkins jobs and pipelines.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Experience with Data-Driven, Keyword-Driven, and Hybrid automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of performance and security testing tools is a significant plus.
Work Environment
This position is strictly onsite in Jersey City, NJ. Candidates must be local to the NJ/NY area. The interview process includes a mandatory face-to-face (F2F) second round. We are looking for a leader who can drive innovation in our testing processes while maintaining a hands-on approach to framework development.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
