Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced AWS Administrator to manage, monitor, and optimize our cloud infrastructure in Chicago, IL. This onsite contract role requires hands-on expertise in AWS services, cloud networking, security, automation, and day-to-day operational support in a production environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Kubernetes, CI/CD tools, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Deploy, configure, and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, and Load Balancers.
- Perform regular system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Manage Amazon EKS clusters across multiple AWS accounts, ensuring robust networking and inter-cluster connectivity.
- Administer multi-account AWS environments adhering to best practices.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement and maintain IAM roles, policies, and enforce least-privilege access.
- Ensure adherence to internal and external security standards and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with development and security teams to enhance overall system performance and reliability.
Networking & Connectivity:
- Troubleshoot and manage VPCs, subnets, route tables, VPNs, and Direct Connect configurations.
- Resolve networking issues related to DNS, routing, and application connectivity.
Automation & DevOps Support:
- Develop automation scripts using Python or Bash to streamline operations.
- Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK for managing cloud resources.
- Perform Helm chart deployments, upgrades, and customizations for Kubernetes applications.
- Work with containerized applications and optimize Docker/Kubernetes deployments.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure deployment processes.
Operations & Incident Response:
- Serve as Level 2/3 support for cloud-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution.
- Track, resolve, and document incidents, including root cause analysis.
- Maintain system backups, manage patching schedules, and configure disaster recovery solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-7 years of experience in AWS administration or cloud operations.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, and networking concepts.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and networking principles.
- Proficiency with Helm and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
- Experience in scripting languages like Python or Bash.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and IaC frameworks.
- Proven ability to quickly and effectively troubleshoot production issues.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 per year (Estimated)
