Job Description
HMG America LLC is looking for a visionary AWS Application Architect specializing in Microservices to lead the design and implementation of scalable cloud-native applications. This is a 100% remote contract position, though preference will be given to candidates residing in PST or CST time zones to align with our West Coast client’s operations. This is a hands-on architectural role where the candidate is expected to not only design high-level systems but also dive into the code to ensure best practices and performance standards are met.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and design resilient, scalable microservices architectures using NodeJS and modern frameworks.
- Lead the migration and optimization of applications within the AWS ecosystem, focusing on EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
- Develop high-performance backend services using Fastify or NestJS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical roadmaps and architectural standards.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of cloud infrastructure through automated CI/CD and IaC.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
- Participate in client-facing technical discussions and architectural reviews.
Required Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience as an Application Architect with a focus on AWS Cloud services.
- Expert proficiency in NodeJS and at least one modern framework such as Fastify or NestJS.
- Deep hands-on experience with Amazon EKS and container orchestration.
- Proven track record of designing and deploying microservices in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of serverless computing, API Gateways, and event-driven architectures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Professional Expectations
As a Senior Architect, you will be the technical authority for the project. You must be comfortable with a ‘lead by example’ approach, maintaining a high level of coding proficiency while managing architectural oversight. The role requires a proactive problem-solver who can navigate the complexities of a remote team environment while delivering high-quality, enterprise-grade software solutions. Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous client interview round to demonstrate their technical depth and architectural reasoning.
Special Requirements
Remote role with PST/CST timezone preference. Includes client interview round. Hands-on coding in NodeJS/NestJS required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $180,000 – $250,000 per year (Estimated)
