Role Overview

We are seeking an AWS Certified Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud applications within the AWS ecosystem. This role supports the City of Austins cloud modernization initiatives, delivering secure and high-performance solutions for public services and internal platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Application Development
    • Design and develop cloud-native applications using AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk
    • Build serverless and microservices-based architectures
    • Develop and maintain APIs using Amazon API Gateway
  • Cloud Data & Storage Integration
    • Implement storage solutions using Amazon S3
    • Develop integrations with Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon RDS
    • Ensure efficient and secure data processing
  • DevOps & Deployment
    • Build CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline and AWS CodeBuild
    • Automate deployments using AWS CloudFormation or AWS CDK
    • Containerize applications using Docker and deploy via Amazon ECS/EKS
    • Experience with Cirrus CI is required
  • Monitoring & Security
    • Monitor applications using Amazon CloudWatch
    • Implement access control using AWS IAM
    • Ensure adherence to cloud security best practices
  • Collaboration & Documentation
    • Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements
    • Document system architecture, APIs, and deployment processes
    • Provide troubleshooting and technical support

Required Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience
    • 3+ years of software development experience
    • 2+ years of hands-on AWS experience
    • Experience building and deploying cloud-based applications
  • Certification
    • AWS Certified Developer Associate (Required)
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong experience with:
      • AWS Lambda
      • AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy
      • CI/CD pipelines & DevOps tools (including Cirrus CI)
      • Programming languages: Python, Java, Node.js, or C#
      • RESTful API development
      • Microservices & cloud architecture
      • Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/CDK)
      • Cloud security best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Terraform
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience with government/municipal systems
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization & performance tuning

Compensation & Location

Salary: $60 – $85 per year (Estimated)

Location: Austin, TX
