Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled AWS Data Engineer to join a high-profile project at United Airlines in Chicago, IL. This role is a hybrid position requiring 3-4 days onsite per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure, specifically within the AWS ecosystem. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust data pipelines, automating infrastructure, and ensuring the reliability of cloud-based data services.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures on AWS.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to manage cloud resources efficiently.
- Develop and optimize automation scripts using Python to streamline data processing and system management.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure frequent and reliable software releases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data engineering solutions with existing DevOps workflows.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in a complex, hybrid cloud environment.
- Ensure data security and compliance standards are met across all cloud deployments.
Required Technical Skills
- Expertise in AWS Cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift.
- Strong proficiency in DevOps methodologies and tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Professional experience with Python for data engineering and scripting tasks.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Blue-Green deployment strategies to minimize downtime during updates.
- Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Ansible Playbooks for configuration management.
- Previous experience working in the aviation or transportation industry is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team setting.

Salary: $65 – $75 per year
