Role Overview: AWS DevOps Engineer

As we move into 2026, the role of an AWS DevOps Engineer has evolved into a critical pillar of digital resilience and operational excellence. This position in Edison, NJ, offers a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of cloud infrastructure for high-scale enterprise environments. We are seeking a visionary engineer who understands that DevOps is not just a set of tools, but a culture of continuous improvement and automation. You will be responsible for architecting and maintaining robust, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that empower development teams to ship code faster and with higher quality.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Objectives

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Leadership: Design and implement sophisticated infrastructure blueprints using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation. You will ensure that all environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and adhere to the principle of least privilege.
  • Advanced CI/CD Orchestration: Build and optimize automated deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI. Your goal is to achieve seamless, zero-downtime deployments while integrating automated security scanning and performance testing into the build process.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Manage and scale containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Amazon ECS. You will focus on optimizing resource utilization and ensuring high availability across multiple availability zones.
  • Cloud Security and Compliance: Implement proactive security measures using AWS IAM, VPC security groups, and AWS Shield. You will work closely with security teams to ensure that the infrastructure meets modern compliance standards and is resilient against emerging threats.
  • Monitoring and Observability: Establish comprehensive monitoring frameworks using CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana. You will define key performance indicators (KPIs) and set up intelligent alerting systems to minimize Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
  • Cost Optimization (FinOps): Analyze cloud spend and implement strategies for cost reduction, such as right-sizing instances, utilizing Spot Instances, and optimizing storage tiers without compromising performance.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience with core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Route 53.
  • Proven track record of managing production-grade Kubernetes clusters in a cloud environment.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and networking protocols.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Special Requirements

C2C (Corp-to-Corp) engagement; HCL Tech is the end client.
