Position Summary: Azure Cloud DevOps / Platform Engineer
We are looking for a highly skilled Azure Cloud DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL. This is a hybrid role specifically open to local candidates who are visa independent. The primary focus of this position is to design, automate, and manage sophisticated cloud infrastructure and API platforms on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will be instrumental in driving our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy and ensuring our API architectures are secure, scalable, and resilient.
Core Responsibilities
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and deploy Azure infrastructure using Terraform. You will be responsible for creating reusable, modular code that adheres to industry best practices for cloud provisioning and resource management.
- CI/CD Automation: Build and maintain robust continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions. This includes integrating Terraform deployments with automated validation steps to ensure high-quality releases.
- API Management & Security: Implement and manage Azure API Management (APIM) services. You will work with various API architectures, including REST, SOAP, and GraphQL, while enforcing strict security protocols using OAuth 2.0 and JWT token validation.
- Cloud Networking: Configure and manage critical Azure networking components, including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), route tables, and private endpoints to ensure secure connectivity.
- Traffic & Security Management: Deploy and secure application traffic using Azure Application Gateway with Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Azure Front Door. Manage sensitive data using Azure Key Vault for secrets, certificates, and keys.
- Automation Scripting: Develop advanced Python scripts for cloud automation, operational tasks, and API-based resource management utilizing Azure SDKs and REST APIs.
Required Technical Skills
- Azure Services: Deep expertise in Azure API Management, Application Gateway, Front Door, and Key Vault.
- DevOps Tools: Proven experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and GitHub Actions for pipeline automation.
- Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python for automation and a strong understanding of Azure SDKs.
- Networking Fundamentals: Solid knowledge of Azure networking, including VNet peering, NSG rules, and secure hybrid connectivity.
- API Standards: Hands-on experience with REST, SOAP, and GraphQL architectures, along with modern security standards like OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
Strategic Collaboration
In this role, you will collaborate closely with development, security, and architecture teams to implement governance, access control, and security best practices across all Azure environments. You will be a key contributor to the reliability and scalability of our cloud platform, ensuring that our infrastructure meets the evolving needs of the business while maintaining a high standard of operational excellence.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
