Role Overview: Azure Data Architect
Purview Infotech is seeking a highly seasoned Azure Data Architect for a critical 12-month hybrid contract engagement in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is designed for a technical visionary with over 15 years of professional experience in the data engineering and architecture landscape. As a lead architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing complex data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance for enterprise-level data workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end data architectures using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Develop robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Python and PySpark to handle large-scale datasets.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical specifications and architectural blueprints.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding and architecture.
- Optimize data storage and processing costs while maintaining high availability and performance standards.
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance frameworks within the Azure ecosystem.
- Conduct architectural reviews and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of the data platform.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with a significant focus on data architecture and engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in Azure Databricks and the Spark framework.
- Advanced programming skills in Python and PySpark for data manipulation and analysis.
- Deep understanding of Azure cloud services, including ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, and Azure Key Vault.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale data migration or modernization projects.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques (Dimensional, Data Vault, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
Project Environment
This position requires a hybrid work model, necessitating local residency in or near Grand Rapids, MI. The project duration is initially set for 12 months with a high likelihood of extension based on performance and project needs. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values innovation and technical excellence.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
