Role Overview
The Azure Data Cloud Architect is a high-level strategic position responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-grade data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. In the 2026 landscape, where data-driven decision-making is the cornerstone of business success, this role ensures that the underlying infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure. You will lead the architectural vision for data lakes, warehouses, and real-time processing pipelines, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of modern AI and analytics workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks.
- Design scalable data lake architectures (ADLS Gen2) that support both structured and unstructured data formats.
- Implement comprehensive data governance and security frameworks, including row-level security, data masking, and encryption at rest and in transit.
- Lead the migration of complex on-premises data environments to Azure, ensuring minimal business disruption and maximum performance gains.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data strategies, roadmaps, and technical standards across the organization.
- Optimize cloud consumption and performance, leveraging Azure Cost Management and performance tuning techniques for SQL and Spark workloads.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep to automate environment provisioning.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience with the Azure Data Stack, including Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and Event Hubs.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, and advanced SQL for data transformation.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for data projects using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and its application in data processing.
- Deep knowledge of data modeling techniques, including Star Schema, Snowflake, and Data Vault 2.0.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
