Job Description: Azure Senior Data Architect (Insurance Domain)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Architect with deep expertise in Azure cloud services, event-driven architecture, and API-first solutioning, specifically within the Insurance Domain. This role is crucial for leading the design and delivery of scalable, resilient, and high-performing technology solutions. You will be responsible for defining high-level and low-level designs, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring non-functional requirements are met throughout the solution lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture & Solution Design: Own end-to-end technical solutioning from business requirements through high-level architecture and implementation guidance. Create high-level designs (HLDs), architecture diagrams, and technical roadmaps aligned with enterprise standards. Design API-first solutions, ensuring consistency, reusability, scalability, and strong governance. Architect event-driven systems leveraging modern messaging and integration patterns. Define and enforce non-functional requirements including resiliency, availability, scalability, performance, security, and cost optimization.
- Cloud & Data Architecture: Design and implement solutions on Microsoft Azure, utilizing appropriate services for compute, storage, integration, and messaging. Architect and support Azure Batch-based processing for large-scale, parallel, or compute-intensive workloads. Design data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows using Matillion and related data platforms. Ensure cloud solutions align with best practices for cost optimization and operational efficiency.
- Integration & Platform Work: Architect integrations with enterprise platforms such as IBM Sterling (B2B/EDI or file-based integrations). Design and govern synchronous and asynchronous integrations across internal systems and third-party vendors. Ensure robust error handling, observability, retry mechanisms, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Domain & Compliance: Partner with business stakeholders to translate regulatory and operational requirements into technical solutions within the insurance industry.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with multiple vendors, ensuring architectural alignment and delivery quality. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and engineering teams. Participate in architecture review boards and contribute to enterprise technology standards. Communicate architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a Technical/Solution Architect role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including designing cloud-native architectures.
- Proven expertise in event-driven architecture, message-based systems, and integration patterns.
- Solid experience designing API-first solutions (REST, OpenAPI, API governance).
- Hands-on or architectural experience with Azure Batch and large-scale processing workloads.
- Experience with Matillion or comparable ETL/data integration tools.
- Strong understanding of resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, scalability, and performance tuning.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within the Insurance Domain is highly preferred.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 per year (Estimated)
