Role Overview: Business Analyst for Zelle Payments
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and specialized Business Analyst with a deep focus on the Zelle payment network to join our digital payments team. This hybrid role, based in either New York City or Jersey City, is critical for bridging the gap between complex business requirements and technical execution within the real-time payment processing landscape. As the financial industry continues to evolve toward instantaneous transactions, your expertise in Zelle’s P2P (Peer-to-Peer) payment rails will be instrumental in ensuring our banking infrastructure remains competitive and compliant. The modern consumer expects seamless, immediate fund transfers, and this position places you at the heart of the technology making that possible.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope
- Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Zelle payment flows, including user enrollment, person-to-person transfers, and back-end settlement processes.
- Lead the gathering and documentation of detailed API specifications, ensuring that all technical requirements for payment triggers and status notifications are precisely defined for the development team.
- Navigate the intricate domestic payment landscape, maintaining strict adherence to banking regulations and the specific rules governing the Zelle network.
- Translate high-level business needs into actionable Agile user stories, managing the product backlog and participating in all Sprint ceremonies.
- Perform data mapping exercises and technical validation of payment components, utilizing tools like Postman for API testing and database analysis.
- Facilitate seamless communication between business stakeholders, software developers, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure project alignment.
- Develop comprehensive process maps and workflow diagrams that cover the entire payment lifecycle, including exception handling and error resolution.
- Ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are validated through rigorous acceptance criteria and testing protocols.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) specifically within the financial services sector. A mandatory requirement for this position is direct, hands-on knowledge of the Zelle Payments domain. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record in API specification gathering and a strong familiarity with Agile methodologies. Technical aptitude is highly valued, particularly experience with database structures and API testing tools such as Postman. Beyond technical skills, we are looking for a professional with exceptional analytical capabilities, strong documentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of digital payment innovation, contributing to the infrastructure that powers millions of daily transactions across the United States. You will be expected to handle complex data mapping tasks, ensuring that the integration between the Zelle network and internal banking ledgers is flawless. Your work will directly impact the reliability and speed of the bank’s digital offerings, making this a high-visibility role with significant growth potential. We value candidates who can not only document requirements but also provide strategic insights into how payment systems can be optimized for better performance and user experience. If you have a passion for fintech and a deep understanding of the Zelle ecosystem, we encourage you to apply for this high-priority opening.
Special Requirements
Direct domain knowledge of Zelle Payments is mandatory. Proven experience in API specification requirement gathering is required. Hybrid work model in NYC or Jersey City.
