Role Overview: Senior CAD Design Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Mechanical Engineer with over 8 years of specialized experience in CAD design and manufacturability. This role is critical for driving innovation in product development and ensuring that mechanical designs are optimized for both performance and cost-effective production. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical systems and a proven track record of delivering robust design solutions in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complex 3D models and detailed 2D technical drawings using industry-standard CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo.
  • Perform rigorous Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) analyses to reduce production costs and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct structural and thermal simulations to validate design integrity and performance under various operating conditions.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain comprehensive documentation of design iterations and technical specifications.
  • Lead prototyping efforts and work closely with machine shops to oversee the fabrication of initial design concepts.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the design workflow to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design and CAD modeling.
  • Expert-level proficiency in advanced CAD tools and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

2026 Market Context:

As we move into 2026, the demand for CAD professionals who can integrate AI-driven generative design and sustainable engineering practices is at an all-time high. This position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of mechanical innovation, utilizing the latest digital twin technologies to simulate real-world performance before physical production begins. Candidates with a forward-thinking approach to automation and smart manufacturing will find this role particularly rewarding.
