Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with a strong focus on Automation and Networking to support a high-profile government contract for our end client, Maximus. This is a 6+ month contract-to-hire position that is 100% remote. The successful candidate will be an AWS expert with significant experience in Azure, specifically within highly regulated environments such as GovCloud and FedRAMP High. This role requires a deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and the ability to stand up cloud infrastructure from the ground up.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure platforms.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate environment provisioning.
- Architect and configure complex Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), ensuring secure and efficient connectivity between cloud environments.
- Deploy and manage resources within AWS GovCloud and Azure/Microsoft FedRAMP High environments, adhering to strict compliance standards.
- Automate operational tasks and CI/CD pipelines using Ansible and Python scripting.
- Provide CCNA-level networking expertise to design and troubleshoot cloud network topologies without requiring direct CLI device configuration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud solutions meet security, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Lead the migration of legacy workloads to modern cloud-native architectures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, automation scripts, and security protocols.
Required Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure; GCP experience is a plus.
- Advanced experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Proven experience standing up cloud infrastructure from scratch in a production environment.
- Deep understanding of VPC networking, including peering, transit gateways, and VPN connectivity.
- Direct experience working with AWS GovCloud and Azure FedRAMP High compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in Ansible for configuration management and Python for general automation.
- Solid understanding of networking principles equivalent to CCNA certification.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $170,000 – $220,000 per year (Estimated)
