Position Summary
3S Business Corporation is seeking an experienced and dedicated Cognos Administrator for a critical 12+ month contract position. This role is strictly onsite, requiring the candidate to be present at the client location five days a week. While the preferred location is Alpharetta, GA, we are also considering candidates willing to work from Omaha, NE, Berkeley Heights, NJ, or Wilmington, DE. This is a high-impact role responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of IBM Cognos Analytics v12 environments, ensuring that our business intelligence infrastructure remains robust and reliable.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain IBM Cognos Analytics v12 environments hosted on Linux operating systems.
- Provide expert-level architectural guidance for Cognos installations, configurations, and upgrades.
- Integrate Cognos reporting solutions with Oracle Exadata databases to ensure high-performance data processing and retrieval.
- Manage user security, folder permissions, and system capabilities within the Cognos portal to maintain data integrity and compliance.
- Monitor system performance, perform capacity planning, and execute tuning activities to optimize environment stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to report execution, data source connections, and server availability.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, database, and network teams to ensure seamless environment availability and performance.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies for the Cognos content store and configuration files.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting or the Cognos SDK where appropriate.
- Support report developers and power users by providing best practices for report authoring and data modeling.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Cognos environment, including configuration settings and administrative procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in IBM Cognos Administration, specifically with version 11 or 12.
- Strong proficiency in Linux OS administration as it relates to hosting business intelligence applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in Cognos Architecture and multi-node environment setups.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata integration and performance tuning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure production issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a corporate onsite environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $120,000 – $170,000 per year (Estimated)
