Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Control-M Developer with a robust background in Data Engineering to join our enterprise team for a critical 6-month contract engagement. This role is designed for a technical expert with over 10 years of professional experience who can navigate the complexities of modern data orchestration and batch scheduling. As a Control-M Developer, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing sophisticated job flows that power our data-driven decision-making processes. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work environment while requiring the technical rigor necessary to support high-volume, production-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop end-to-end Control-M job flows for complex batch processing and data pipeline workflows, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Manage the full lifecycle of job scheduling, including the creation of dependencies, custom calendars, conditions, and proactive alerting mechanisms.
- Perform deep-dive troubleshooting and performance optimization for batch failures, identifying root causes and implementing permanent fixes to minimize downtime.
- Implement advanced automation strategies for job reruns, recovery procedures, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) management to meet business objectives.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Application Development, Data Science, and Infrastructure, to ensure seamless integration of scheduling components.
- Design and support robust data pipelines using a variety of ETL/ELT tools and custom scripting languages.
- Integrate Control-M with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Databricks.
- Orchestrate complex workflows involving secure file transfers (SFTP/FTP), API calls, and cloud-native storage solutions like AWS S3 or Azure Data Lake.
- Ensure the integrity and quality of data throughout the ingestion, transformation, and consumption phases of the pipeline.
- Utilize Shell scripting and Python to automate repetitive tasks and enhance data processing capabilities.
- Adhere to and promote CI/CD best practices for the deployment of scheduling jobs and data pipelines using tools like Git and Jenkins.
Technical Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in IT, with at least 5+ years specifically focused on Control-M development and scheduling.
- Proven expertise in Data Engineering, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, including expert-level Shell scripting.
- Strong SQL skills for complex data validation, querying, and database troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with big data ecosystems, including Hadoop and Spark.
- Familiarity with cloud-native services such as AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or GCP Cloud Run.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale batch processing environments with strict uptime requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Control-M (BMC Certified Professional).
- Experience with modern programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Knowledge of DevOps tools including Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Terraform.
- Previous experience in the financial or healthcare sectors where data security and compliance are paramount.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex technical challenges under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder management.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
