Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to support security products specifically for local government entities. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and security of public sector infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in configuring, administering, and tuning advanced security tools and products. While the role is primarily remote, it requires a commitment to attend monthly onsite meetings in Richmond, VA, making local or regional candidates highly preferred.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools across multiple covered localities.
- Tune detection rules to minimize false positives while maximizing threat visibility and response capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset inventories for all supported government entities.
- Manage the lifecycle of EDR platforms and agents, ensuring all systems are updated to the latest secure versions.
- Review, adjust, and enforce security policies to align with evolving threat landscapes and compliance requirements.
- Conduct regular system health checks to ensure optimal performance of the EDR and Vulnerability Management Systems (VMS).
- Investigate and remediate any unexpected agent behaviors or system anomalies.
- Configure and schedule vulnerability scans, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the network environment.
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and security incidents submitted through the ticketing system and Security Operations Center (SOC).
- Document all customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions with high precision.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in administering and maintaining EDR tools.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in administering and maintaining Vulnerability Management Systems (VMS).
- Strong background in information security with a specific focus on security technologies and incident response.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative security team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, or tool-specific certifications) are highly desired.
- Experience working within the public sector or government agencies.
- Familiarity with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platforms.
Special Requirements
US Citizens or Green Card holders only (no EAD). Potential for permanent conversion after 6 months. Requires monthly onsite meetings in Richmond, VA.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 per year (Estimated)
